Canada: RCMP Issues Warning To Police And Military After ISIS Issues New Threat

Sun News – “The RCMP is warning both police and military to keep an eye out for terrorists following a threat from ISIS, QMI Agency has learned.

The notice went out Monday. Police and military were told to exercise vigilance and caution upon starting their shifts this week.

Several police forces, including those in Montreal and Quebec City, confirmed the RCMP advisory.

Montreal police sources tell QMI that its force held top-level meetings with the RCMP this week.

The RCMP warning is specifically aimed at police on solo patrols, who have been deemed to be at greatest risk.

Quebec’s Public Security minister, Lise Theriault, said the RCMP advisory follows an earlier threat from ISIS.

In September, ISIS spokesman Muhammad Al-Adnani called on followers to kill Canadians and others by various means including to ‘slaughter him with a knife, or run him over with your car.’

Theriault told QMI that citizens, as well as police, need to keep their eyes open for threats.

‘I think that vigilance will always be appropriate,’ she said. The minister urged citizens to call police if they believe someone has become radicalized or if they see violent Internet postings.

Two Canadian soldiers were killed by homegrown extremists last week.

Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was shot in the back and killed Oct. 22 while guarding the National War Memorial across from Parliament Hill.

Two days earlier, Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent was run over by a car and killed, while another soldier was injured, near a recruiting office in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.”

By Joseph DeCaro, Worthy News – “On Oct. 19, armed Muslims stormed two churches in Taraba state and killed 31 Christians as they worshipped, according to Morning Star News.

Two pastors and 29 others were slain in the attacks in the villages of Gindin Waya and Sondi, said the Rev. Caleb Ahema, president of the Christian Reformed Church of Christ in Nigeria.

Ahema said the onslaught was the seventh attack on Christian communities in Wukari Local Government Area since February.

‘The attack on Christians in Taraba state is a planned genocide against Christians by Islamic insurgents who have invaded the southern part of the state — inhabited mostly by Christians — since February.’

Ahema said that the Muslims wore military uniforms and were members of the Islamist Boko Haram. Haram insurgents based in Borno state have reportedly encouraged ethnic Fulani Muslim herdsmen to attack Christians in Taraba and other states in order to impose Islamic law throughout Nigeria.

While Fulanis have had longstanding property disputes with Christian farmers, church leaders believe these latest attacks on their communities are part of a war by Islam to eliminate Christianity in their country.

‘This is the third time that the Muslims have attacked Christians on a Sunday,’ Ahema said. ‘The attack led to the death of four persons in Gindin Waya and 27 persons in Sondi. Among the dead is the pastor of the Sondi church, Nuhu Useni, and his only male child.’

Ahema appealed to the Nigerian government to stop the blood bath.

‘Muslims seem determined to wipe out Christians in this country. What is happening? How come Christians have been attacked seven times now, and it seems as if the country has no good security intelligence gathering network?’

Islamic insurgents killed 1,631 Christians in Nigeria during the first six months of 2014. Last year, 1,783 Nigerian Christians were also killed for their faith. The increase in Christian deaths this year accompanies an increase in the total number of people killed by Boko Haram.

While Boko Haram is the moniker residents of Borno state gave the insurgents, the Islamist group calls itself the ‘Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad’ or ‘The Congregation of the People of Tradition for Proselytism and Jihad.’ The U.S. finally designated Haram as a Foreign Terrorist Organization late last year.” Source – Worthy News.

In a video published by ShamToday on October 26, the media wing associated with the predominantly Chechen Islamic State (IS) faction Katibat Al-Aqsa, a Chechen militant named Musa Abu-Yusuf Shishani calls on the Chechen diaspora to join IS.

The video, in Chechen, was shared on several pro-Islamic-State Russian-language social media accounts on October 26 and offers insights into the attitudes of Chechen IS militants who are on the frontline in Kobani. (It was removed by YouTube on October 27)

The speaker in the video, Musa Abu-Yusuf, is filmed in front of a burned-out car and claims he is in Kobani.

Musa Abu-Yusuf says that IS militants are defending not only against attacks from the Kurds, but also from the entire world, who have ‘suddenly started to defend the Kurds.’

He calls on all Chechens in Europe ‘not to look for reasons not to come [to Syria], you are obliged to come, and kill everyone.’

‘There are no civilians,’ Musa Abu-Yusuf adds. ‘Kill them all wherever they are, that is, in Europe itself. Kill just one Frenchman, one American, then they will rise up. Kill them all, wherever they are. In Europe.’

There is a large Chechen diaspora in Europe, many of them refugees from the First and Second Chechen Wars. According to the Jamestown Foundation, there may be as many as 30,000 Chechens in France, 25,000 in Austria and 17,000 in Belgium. There is also a large Chechen diaspora in Turkey, including representatives from the North Caucasian militant group, the Caucasus Emirate. While exact numbers are not known, some of the Chechen fighters in Syria have come from the Chechen diaspora.”

(CNSNews.com) – A global effort to counter claims by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS/ISIL) that it is acting in the name of Islam must include a counter-narrative that highlights “our profound respect” for the religion, the administration’s point man in the anti-ISIS coalition said this week.Retired Marine Corps Gen. John Allen was speaking in Kuwait, where representatives of more than a dozen Islamic and Western met to discuss using public communications to combat ISIS (also known as Da’esh – an acronym for the Arabic rendering of the group’s name, ad-Dawlah al-Islamiyah fil-Iraq wa ash-Sham).

“As we seek to expose Da’esh’s true nature,” Allen told the gathering on Monday, “we must also tell a positive story, one that highlights our respect – our profound respect for Islam’s proud traditions, its rich history, and celebration of scholarship and family and community.”

“We must work with clerics and scholars and teachers and parents to tell the story of how we celebrate Islam, even as we show that Da’esh perverts it.”

The conference in Kuwait City brought together officials from leading Arab states, Turkey, France, Britain and the U.S. to discuss ways their governments are working to counter ISIS’ message.

The jihadist group, which controls large parts of Syria and Iraq and has declared a “caliphate” in those areas, runs a dynamic propaganda and recruitment operation, including a full-color online magazine, video clips, and an active social media presence.

The Qur’an and other Islamic texts, along with viewpoints of historical and modern-day Muslim scholars, are central to its messaging, and the U.S.-led coalition is prioritizing attempts to counter the purported religious justifications for its actions.

Allen said that ISIS propaganda serves both to attract recruits and “perverts the innocent.”

“It is only when we contest Da’esh’s presence online and deny the legitimacy of its message – the message that it sends to vulnerable young people – and as we expose Da’esh for the un-Islamic, criminal cult of violence that it really is, it is only then that Da’esh will be truly defeated.”

He said every member of the coalition had a role to play in combating the image ISIS portrays of itself.

“Da’esh’s online messengers present themselves as the true and victorious representatives of Islam. They seek to portray themselves as winners, true leaders worthy of financial support that attracts and radicalizes foreign fighters,” he said.

“I believe every coalition partner, every one, has a unique and a vital role to play in striking down this image – this image within the context of our respective cultural, religious, and national norms.”

Allen noted that leading religious figures in the region have spoken out against ISIS on religious grounds.

Last August, the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia declared that ISIS’ ideas and violent conduct made it “enemy number one of Islam.” The same month, Egypt’s grand mufti launched an Internet-based campaign to discredit ISIS, and urged media to stop using any name for the group that incorporates the word “Islamic.”

More than 120 Islamic figures last month signed a letter to ISIS leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi – who calls himself “Caliph Ibrahim” and has called on jihadists everywhere to swear loyalty to him – challenging him on religious grounds….

Whether this may or may not have anything to do with the religion of [anything but] peace, when it comes to Islam and beheading in this day and age, you can’t think of one without thinking about the other …

Update: Killer is identified as Derek Ward who is reported to have had a history of mental illness and criminal activity …

By Katie Zavadski, NY Mag – Last night, a man on Long Island dragged a woman’s body from her home onto the street, and then kicked her severed head to about 20 feet away. But the trail of real blood didn’t register at first with neighbors, who thought they were simply witnessing a very elaborate Halloween stunt. The suspected murderer, thought to be in his 30s, then jumped in front of an oncoming train in Farmingdale. His body was found about a mile away.

‘I looked through my window and saw the body down there,’ Nick Gordon, a neighbor, told the New York Post. ‘I saw the lady laying right in front and her head was across the street, close to the corner. I thought ‘holy s***!”

Gordon added that the floor was covered with blood, and ‘smears’ seemed like someone had pulled the body.

But not everyone was so observant. Other neighbors thought it was a cool trick and went over to try to lift the body, only to discover, upon touching it, that it was flesh and bone.

There’s no official word yet on the motives behind the killing, or the relationship between the man and woman, but NBC New York reports that the victim was his mother.”
