Life in Boko Haram school: “All day, we were just memorising the Koran”

As all the learned experts from Pope Francis to John Kerry tell us, Islamic jihadists have nothing whatsoever to do with Islam, the noble religion of peace. Yet they have an odd and recurring tendency to focus upon the Qur’an. Maybe Pope Francis can make his way to a Boko Haram stronghold and explain to the group’s leaders how true Islam and the proper understanding of the Qur’an reject every form of violence.

Even here a boy says: “Being taught about the Koran is right, but there is nothing in the Koran that says you should hurt people or take their possessions.”

That’s true, as long as one overlooks the Qur’an verses calling on Muslims to “kill them wherever you find them” (2:191, 4:89 and 9:5), to crucify or amputate a hand and foot of those who wage war against Allah and his messenger (5:33), to amputate the hands of thieves (5:38), to behead unbelievers (47:4), and more, as well as the hadith that depicts Muhammad saying: “I have been commanded to fight against people so long as they do not declare that there is no god but Allah, and he who professed it was guaranteed the protection of his property and life on my behalf except for the right affairs rest with Allah.” (Sahih Muslim 30) That means that if people don’t declare that there is no god but Allah, their lives and property are not guaranteed, and can be taken.

“Life in Bama, ex-Boko Haram base,” Vanguard, December 15, 2016:

In the Borno, northern Nigerian town of Bama the streets are eerily quiet. Houses lie empty, riddled with bullet holes, and symbols of the jihadist group Boko Haram are painted on the walls.

Bama, once the militants’ stronghold, was liberated from the Islamist fighters by the Nigerian army in March 2015, but is only reached safely by helicopter – the roads still too dangerous because of the risk of ambush by the insurgents.

Despite its ghostly atmosphere and violent history, the town is now a safe haven for around 10,000 people, among more than two million in Nigeria who have fled areas held by Boko Haram….

In the centre of the camp children play on slides and swings built especially for them. The camp school is a cluster of five tents. “How many oranges and bananas?” shout the pupils in unison, reciting dictations from their English teacher.

For some of the students learning English, Arabic and social studies, this is their first taste of schooling in the rural state, where conflict has crippled education.

Yet this is not the case for all. Aba Modi, 12, attended one of Boko Haram’s Islamic schools, or madrasas, when he lived in Banki, a town under the militants’ control for two years. “They only taught the Koran at our school. All day, we were just memorising the Koran,” Modi said.

Occasionally the pupils would be taken out of class to learn to shoot a weapon or how to crawl under fire.

Modi eventually fled Banki with his brother in the middle of the night. “Life is completely different now. I enjoy coming to school,” he said. “Some of the things they [Boko Haram] taught are correct. Being taught about the Koran is right, but there is nothing in the Koran that says you should hurt people or take their possessions.”…

France: 10,000 troops on streets as Islamic State threatens Christmas jihad massacres

“I want the streets to be teeming with tourists and I want the French to be able to go out and have fun. But, in order to make that happen, we need to keep people 100 per cent safe.”

You can’t, Le Roux, because your government has allowed an unknowable number of Islamic jihadis into the country among Muslim migrants. Also, the Muslim population that was already there contains an unknowable number of Islamic jihadis, who have been able to operate there because the government is committed to the idea that Islam is a religion of peace and that Islamic law is perfectly and easily compatible with French law. In other words, Le Roux, you and your colleagues have brought this situation upon the French people.

“Terror-stricken France deploys THOUSANDS more troops to streets amid Christmas threat,” Express, December 15, 2016:

FRANCE will deploy more armed troops on the country’s streets to amid the increasing threat of a Paris-style attack during the festive season, the country’s newly-appointed interior minister has said.

Bruno Le Roux said that there were currently more than 7,000 heavily armed ‘Sentinelle’ soldiers patrolling France’s streets.

But the interior minister said up to 3,000 additional troops would be deployed to protect sensitive targets, such as airports, stations, Christmas markets, and places of worship, including churches and synagogues.

The interior minister told the French radio station RTL that Islamic State militants still posed a “serious threat” and that the country remained on “high alert” following the string of bloody terrorist attacks on French soil.

More than 230 people have been killed in jihadist attacks orchestrated by ISIS in less than two years.

In November 215, 130 people were killed in the Paris terror attacks, and 86 people died in Nice during this year’s July 14 Bastille Daycelebrations.

Mr Le Roux added that he wanted people to make the most of the “joy-filled” end-of-year festivities, despite the looming terror threat.

He said: “I want the streets to be teeming with tourists and I want the French to be able to go out and have fun. But, in order to make that happen, we need to keep people 100 per cent safe.”…

Hamas top dog calls for Israel’s destruction: “Every inch of Palestine is just ours”

“Every single inch of Palestine is just ours. Palestine is not just Gaza and the West Bank; it extends from the River to the Sea.”

This is a call for genocide, because the only way this could be accomplished would involve the deaths of millions of Jews. But no one in the global “human rights community” will take any notice.

“Hamas Leader Calls for Israel’s Destruction, Says ‘Every Inch’ Belongs to Palestinians,” by Aaron_Kliegman, Washington Free Beacon, December 15, 2016:

Senior Hamas leader and cofounder Mahmoud al-Zahar told supporters Sunday that the terrorist group’s commitment to the destruction of Israel is nonnegotiable, promising to “hold a gun” to the Jewish state’s head as “every inch” of the land belongs to Palestine.

“Every single inch of Palestine is just ours. Palestine is not just Gaza and the West Bank; it extends from the River to the Sea,” al-Zahar said during a festival in the Gaza Strip to mark the 29th anniversary of Hamas’ founding, according to the Arabic outlet Al-Resalah.

Al-Zahar was referring to the creation of a Palestinian state stretching from the Jordan River in the east to the Mediterranean Sea in the west, an area within which the entire state of Israel is located.

“Resistance, no matter the means, is our legitimate right and we shall never ever give it up,” he added. “Our gun will be held to Israel’s head only.”

Al-Zahar, a former foreign minister of the Palestinian National Authority, called on other Palestinian groups in the West Bank–including the Palestinian Authority, Fatah, and the Palestine Liberation Organization–to cancel the Oslo Accords from the 1990s that aimed to work towards a two-state solution. He also said security cooperation between Israelis and Palestinians should end to allow more resources to be put towards “armed resistance” against the Jewish state.

“No matter how forgotten and oppressed we get, our rifle will only target the Israeli occupation,” the Hamas leader said….

Islamic State recaptures Palmyra, displays severed heads of Assad forces

“When you meet the unbelievers, strike the necks…” (Qur’an 47:4)

Note how the Islamic State’s characterization of the Assad regime is entirely religious, not political.

Meanwhile, reports of the Islamic State’s imminent demise in Iraq and Syria may be premature. The U.S. presidential election is over, aside from attempts to steal it, and so now the forces arrayed against the Islamic State can safely go back to losing without significant loss to Obama and co. of what really matters to them: political capital.

“PHOTOS: ISIS Beheads ‘SAA Sympathizers’ After Recapturing Palmyra, Syria,” by S. J. Prince, Heavy, December 12, 2016:

While nearly all of the extremist organizations in Syria are Sunni, the Syrian government is run by Bashar al-Assad, an Alawite or “Nusayri Shia.” According to The Believe Project, Nusayri Shia doctrine developed in the mountains of Syria in the 9th century by Abu Shu’ayb Muhammad ibn Nusayr. ISIS derives its propagandistic name for the Assad from Nusayr as “Nusayris.” However, the term in modern times has come to be viewed as derogatory. Above, one of the “loyalists” is shown with his decapitated head on a spike.

“Islamic State may be losing ground, but its recapture of Palmyra in Syria shows it is still a threat,” by Nabih Bulos, Los Angeles Times, December 12, 2016:

When the Syrian army, backed by relentless Russian airstrikes, beat back Islamic State from the ancient city of Palmyra early this year, it marked the first in a string of significant defeats against the extremist group in the country.

But that victory appeared to have been short-lived. On Sunday, almost nine months after the jihadists’ retreat, Islamic State overran Palmyra once more, the group and activists said. The advance raises questions about recent pronouncements of the group’s weakness — as well as Damascus’ ability to hold territories for which it has paid heavily in men and materiel.

It also suggests a doubling down on Syria by Islamic State and a return to the time before it proclaimed its “caliphate” in 2014. It had been all but defeated in Iraq then, but regrouped around the Syrian-Iraqi border before launching a blitz offensive that claimed a large swath of Iraqi and Syrian territory.

A statement released by Islamic State on social media Sunday said the “soldiers of the caliphate had secured their control over all of Palmyra city… after three days of violent clashes.”

It also issued a series of images showing its fighters with tanks, and pickups mounted with heavy guns, attacking what it said was the Jazal oil fields, northwest of Palmyra….

Video: Thousands of Muslims screaming “Allahu akbar” march in London, demand caliphate

“We need a Caliph who will clean up these streets / Who will smack up armies and who will back beef [fighting]. / Backhand your missiles back to your land, that’s the plan. / World domination at hand. We can expand and take out these fools.”

The British government is indeed made up of fools, and clearly these Islamic supremacists know it, and are so confident that they can even call them fools to their face and know that no roadblocks will be placed in the path of their pursuit of a caliphate in Britain.

“WATCH: British Muslims Gather in Show of Strength to Demand Caliphate,” by Donna Rachel Edmunds, Breitbart, December 14, 2016:

Over a thousand British Muslims took to the streets of London on Tuesday in a show of force, blocking off a central London square to call for a caliphate while the crowd chanted ‘Allahu Akbar’.

We need a Caliph who will clean up these streets / Who will smack up armies and who will back beef [fighting]. / Backhand your missiles back to your land, that’s the plan. / World domination at hand. We can expand and take out these fools.

Those were the words of a poet invited to address the raucous crowd outside the Syrian Embassy in central London who cheered and yelled Allahu Akbar (Allah is the greatest) in support of his calls for war.

Eschewing an alternative demonstration in support of Syria taking place outside Downing Street on the grounds that they did not support the British government, the protesters heard speeches by Moazzam Begg of CAGE, editor of 5Pillars Dilly Hussain, and Hizb ut-Tahrir member Ibtihal Bsis among others.

Lanes of traffic were blocked off in London’s Belgrave Square as the protest got underway at about 9pm, with a prayer session outside the Syrian embassy. The building has lain empty since May 2012 when the Syrian ambassador to the UK was expelled by the British government.

The crowd, mostly drawn from mosques across London, was largely self-segregated with many of the women wearing Islamic clothing.  It soon grew to block off the entire road, with many in the crowd waving what looked to be the Taliban flag, while others were handed placards made by Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, which calls for the reestablishment of a caliphate. It is not clear who organised the demonstration….

But Haitham al-Hadad, a Saudi-trained Salafist Muslim, congratulated last night’s crowd on drawing together to rapidly and in such large numbers. “This gathering today – in a matter of a few hours, hundreds of brothers and sisters coming together – is a sign of positivity and revival, and a sign of victory for Allah,” he said.
